EDIT: With Home Assistant 2021.8 and addition of Energy dashboard this integration is helping you track your energy with more detail. Yes, you can use any smart meter integration without it, but with Utility meter you can track your peak and off-peak energy usage, something that it's much harder to do otherwise.

Utility Meter is next step in our configuration of Shelly EM - Energy meter.  But you can also use it if you have any other smart meter - no matter if electricity, water or gas.

We have to add integration details in configuration.yaml

You can find two examples here - with and without peak/offpeak tracking:

Simple tracking:

utility_meter:

  daily_energy:

    source: sensor.shelly_em_total_consumption # adjust o your sensor name

    cycle: daily

  monthly_energy:

    source: sensor.shelly_em_total_consumption # adjust to your sensor name

    cycle: monthly

More complex with peak/off peak 

utility_meter:

  daily_energy:

    cycle: daily

    tariffs:

      - peak

      - offpeak

  monthly_energy:

04:33 - Save changes, verify configuration and restart!

If you are using later, you need to create automation to change between tariffs. 

And this is it for yet another Home Assistant integration - you can spice up your graphs by using mini-graph-card, that's what I'm using in video intro.
